A Review on Bitumen Aging and Rejuvenation Chemistry: Processes, Materials and Analyses

During the last decades, extensive research has been carried out on using reclaimed asphalt pavement (RAP) material in production of hot recycled mix asphalt. Unfortunately, aged, stiff, and brittle binder RAP typically increases mixture stiffness can therefore cause fatigue low-temperature damages. In scientific literature, there are many studies concerning aging rejuvenation bitumen, but is a lack up-to-date reviews that bring them together, especially those facing phenomena from chemical point view. this paper, recap aspects virgin, rejuvenated bitumen proposed order to provide useful summary state art, with aim both encouraging use an increasing quantity trying give indications for further research.
